Premo '79 Named Lawyer of the Year

For the second consecutive year, Edward Premo II '79, P'09 has been named "Lawyer of the Year" by The Best Lawyers in America in the fields of land use and zoning law, environmental litigation, and land use and zoning litigation. A partner with Harter Secrest & Emery LLP in Rochester, N.Y., Premo was among 12 partners from the firm to receive this recognition. The achievement was recently publicized in the Rochester Business Journal.

From 2007-2010, Premo was selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers in the fields of environmental litigation, government, cities, municipalities and land use/zoning, and in 2011 and 2012 in the field of environmental litigation.

Premo has extensive experience in litigation at all levels of state and federal courts and in challenging federal, state and local statutes and regulations. His practice focuses on environmental and business litigation. He served as counsel of record for the firm in the successful challenge to the constitutionality of portions of the Low Level Radioactive Waste Policy Amendments Act of 1985 before the United States Supreme Court, New York v. United States. He is also a lecturer on environmental law issues for various organizations including the Center for Environmental Information, Rochester Institute of Technology and the New York State Bar Association.

While at Hobart, Premo was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa fraternity and graduated magna cum laude in political science. He went on to receive a J.D. from Columbia University.
