Thomas A. Mackie '77, an environmental lawyer and shareholder of Mackie Shea O'Brien Law Firm, has spent the past 25 years dedicating his time and effort to offering advice to companies in the environmental industry, as well as other businesses and municipalities facing complex environmental issues.
As a result of his and the firm's dedication, Mackie Shea O'Brien, PC, has once again been awarded the first-tier ranking in the third edition of the U.S. News-Best Lawyers "Best Law Firms" publication. The firm was ranked tier 1 for both environmental law and environmental litigation in the Boston metropolitan area for 2013, according to a press release issued by the firm.
During his time at HWS, Mackie was a biology major and a member of the soccer team. Upon graduating from Hobart, Mackie went on to receive his J.D., cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School.
Mackie Shea O'Brien is a boutique environmental law firm which concentrates its practice on environmental and land use law and related litigation. The firm has received a large number of accolades since its founding in 1983 and has been a leader in this field for more than 25 years.
Among its long list of past achievements include the USA Guide - America's Leading Lawyers for Business - "leaders in Environmental Law" award, along with the "Best place to work" award and the "Most Environmentally Conscious Company" award, both presented on behalf of the Environmental Business Council of New England.
To be eligible for a metropolitan ranking, a firm had to have at least one lawyer listed in The Best Lawyers in America; all three lawyers at the firm have been named in this listing each of the past five years.
