Belfort '92 Named President of MELA

David E. Belfort '92 has recently been elected as president of the Massachusetts Employment Lawyers Association (MELA) for the 2012-2013 term. As president, Belfort will uphold the MELA missions, which seeks to enforce and protect the legal rights of employees throughout Massachusetts.
The Association works to create a community for its lawyers and to increase awareness, advocacy and support for its members.
Belfort is a founding member of the Cambridge, Massachusetts law firm Bennett & Belfort, P.C. His focus is primarily on civil litigation, handling matters of employment, restrictive covenant, unemployment, shareholder-employee disputes, contract actions and commercial disputes. Throughout his career, he has presented at conferences and seminars, has contributed to numerous publications and is a member of several professional associations including the Massachusetts Bar Association, where he serves on the MBA Civil Litigation section council.
After receiving a B.A. in political science and economics from Hobart College, Belfort earned a J.D. from Pierce Law. He began work as an associate in the litigation department of the Law Offices of Frank N. Dardeno in 1996, and was made partner in 2001 before co-founding his current firm.
