Phoenix Players Fall Productions

Posted on Monday, October 29, 2012

The Phoenix Players, a student-managed organization that presents a variety of work acted, designed and directed by students each year, has announced its fall productions of two, one-act shows. "The Case of the Prince Formerly Known as Hamlet," and "Text Messages Hurt More When You're Sitting at the Airport," will be presented on Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1. Both will be held at 8 p.m. in Bartlett Theatre.

The first show will be directed by Michelle Feda '15 and was written by Bruce Kane. The cast includes Eric Hambury '13, Jake Deitrich '14, Lorcan Jowers '14, Ava Pavao '14, Mariana Bell '16, Wesley Cady '15 and Julia Yenco '16.

"We had a great turnout at auditions, and it was definitely difficult to make casting decisions," said Feda of the auditioning process. "First years with no theatre experience auditioned, as did seniors with plenty of credits under their belts, and it's wonderful that we get to involve people in theatre that may not have had a chance to work on a main stage show."

Feda commits much of her time to theatre. She is an English major with a minor in theatre, and a member of the education certification program with a focus in secondary English education. She appeared onstage in "Hedda Gabler" last spring, and is currently stage managing "The Odd Couple" for the Geneva Theatre Guild, which is off-campus and opens Friday, Nov. 2.

"Text Messages Hurt More When You're Sitting at the Airport" is being directed by Emily Hamburger '13 and was written by Alex Broun. With just two roles, the cast includes Molly Bilinski'13 and Deitrich.

Aside from stage managing several HWS theatre and dance productions on campus, Hamburger is president of Hillel and house manager of the Abbe Center for Jewish Life theme house. She is a double major in theatre and arts and education.
