While national elections have captured media attention this fall, important elections have already taken place at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Recently, the Colleges each announced the new class presidents for the 2012-2013 academic year. Elections are run by each college's respective student government and are distributed to the entire student body via e-mail.
"Working with our class presidents is perhaps one of the most exciting pieces of my role in student activities. Our class presidents represent the student voice in a very specific way. This is integral to the success of our efforts in the office of student activities, especially on a unique campus like HWS," explains Jessie Marullo, who coordinates student programming.
Each class president has a specific mandate depending on his or her class year and is expected to represent his or her class in student government. In addition, class presidents meet as a separate council to address broad issues and plan events across various years.
