The William Smith soccer team will host two matches on Cozzens Field this week after playing four matches on the road. The Herons, who are ranked No. 20 in this week's NSCAA poll and No. 14 in the D3soccer.com poll, will start the week hosting RIT on Wednesday, October 3.
The Liberty League match with the Tigers is scheduled to being at 4:30 p.m. RIT is 6-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The Tigers will be looking to rebound from a 3-0 loss to RPI on Saturday. Rachael Bromson leads the team with 19 points on nine goals and an assist. Amanda Murray has played the majority of minutes in goal and is sporting a 1.11 goals against average and a .778 save percentage.
The Herons will take on St. Lawrence on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Saints are 6-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the Liberty League. Stephanie Sayward leads St. Lawrence with 16 points on a team-high seven goals and two assists. Kelsey West has started eight matches in goal. She has recorded a 0.86 goals against average and a .851 save percentage.
Senior Renee Jensen and sophomore Madeline Buckley lead William Smith with 16 points each. Jensen leads the Liberty League and ranks eighth in the nation with eight assists. Jensen also sits atop the league and ranks 13th in the country averaging 0.80 assists per game. Buckley is tied for second in the conference with seven goals. Junior Chelsea Dunay has started every match in goal for the Herons. She is sporting a 0.68 goals against average and .844 save percentage. Dunay has recorded four shutouts this fall.
