In its kick-off event of the year, the Stewardson Society will host a reception for those in the Classes of 2013 who have donated to the society. The reception will be held on Friday, Sept. 28, at The Crow's Nest, located at 415 Boodys Hill Road, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
In addition to music and good company, appetizers will be served and there will be several drink specials. Those attending are also encouraged to take advantage of the HWS trolley that will offer rides from Scandling Campus Center and the Village at Odell's Pond to the restaurant every half hour beginning at 10 p.m.
"We hope that many seniors will join us to celebrate the Stewardson Society and the philanthropy it promotes," says Assistant Director of Annual Giving Matt Fratto. "It's a wonderful opportunity to engage with fellow members and to honor the Colleges."
While this event is for members only, it is still not too late to make a gift to the Stewardson Society. The donation of $20.13 not only serves to underscore the commitment and legacy of the Classes of 2013, but also allows seniors to gain access to exclusive events and celebrations that will take place throughout the year.
Members will be tabling in Scandling Campus Center throughout the semester, and gifts can be made online at www.hws.edu/srgift. Donations will also gladly be accepted at the door of the reception.
Named for the first president of the combined Hobart and William Smith Colleges, the Stewardson Society brings together members of the senior classes to present a gift to the Colleges in honor of their impending graduation. This tradition, which began in the 1980s, unites the seniors with the alums who have preceded them and supported their experience while also connecting them to the current students who follow.
