Hamburger '13 on Broadway

Arts and education major Emily Hamburger '13 secured two internships this summer in New York City's theatre district. Along with serving as an education intern for the Broadway league, which is the National Trade Association of the Broadway, she is the stage manager for two theatre shows.
The two shows that Hamburger has been managing include a one man show called "Confess your Bubble," which is part of the Democracy Festival at the Brick Theater in Brooklyn, N.Y. , and "Getting the Business," which is a Rachael Reiner Productions show at Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row in Time Square.
With a strong desire to work as a professional stage manager, Hamburger hopes her experiences this summer will help her figure out what direction she wants to take upon graduating.
"While the education internship relates to my academic interests here at the Colleges-as well as combining my passion for education and theatre-the stage management positions relate directly to my extracurricular interests," she says.
In her position with the Broadway league, Hamburger is working on an newsletter that shares the education initiatives sponsored by the league. As a stage manager, she has been attending each rehearsal and assisting in setting the stage while also keeping track of props while running the light board and video mixer projections.
On campus, Hamburger has managed nine theatre/dance shows and has worked in a technical capacity on four other shows as well. She spent last summer in New York City working as the assistant stage manager for two productions with the Resonance Ensemble.
