Meads '13 Interns with the Bozzuto Group

Posted on Friday, June 29, 2012

Rising senior Faith Meads' fascination with a building's interior and exterior design have joined to spark a passion for real estate. This summer, Meads '13 is exploring real estate through a highly sought-after internship position with The Bozzuto Group.

The urban studies major is working as a property management intern in the company's Washington, D.C. offices. Meads is taking on numerous roles and responsibilities in the group's Senate Square, Loree Grand, and Capital Yards apartment communities.

"Working at The Bozzuto Group this summer, I will be exposed to many facets of the real estate industry and hope to narrow my real estate focus as the internship progresses," says Meads, before leaving for the experience. She holds a Real Estate Certificate in her home state of New Hampshire.

As an intern, Meads handles responsibilities typically assigned to a sales and marketing associate, often generating new leases, conducting property tours, cultivating partnership-marketing opportunities with local employers and leading social media initiatives to connect and engage residents.

Meads initially became interested in The Bozzuto Group two years ago, while reading a copy of the Pulteney Street Survey and a story about Trustee Thomas S. Bozzuto '68, co-founder of the company. She brought her desire to work with the company to the Salisbury Center for Career Services and Professional Development. "I felt very confident and ready in my career hunt," says Meads.

Meads credits her work on campus with not only her practical knowledge of real estate, but her increased interest in the field. "In my urban studies courses, I have become more and more interested in the impact that residential and commercial real estate has on the history, culture, politics and economics of a city," explains Meads.

On campus, Meads is a member of the William Smith swimming and diving team, and works in the William Smith Deans Office. She also serves as a dining services representative for William Smith Congress.

The Bozzuto Group is a privately held real estate services organization that creates quality homes and extraordinary communities while maintaining the utmost respect for the environment. The Bozzuto Group, its companies and its principals have won the nation's highest honors, including being named as one of the "Best Places to Work" in the greater Washington, D.C. area in 2005, 2009 and 2010 by the Washington Business Journal.
