Colleges Host Music Festival

Hobart and William Smith Colleges will host two musical performances as part of the Geneva Music Festival on Friday, June 15, and Saturday, June 16. Founded in 2011 by Geoffrey Herd, the music festival taps the excellent talent found in greater Geneva community and works to bolster music education.
This year's musicians include Colin Brookes, viola; Andrew Hayhurst, cello; Eliot Heaton, violin; Herd, violin; Zahari Metchkov, pianist; Gregory Robbins, double bass; and Eric Wong, violin.
On Friday, the musicians will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's String Quintet No. 4 in G Minor; Franz Schubert Quintet in A Major for Piano and Strings, "The Trout;" and Robert Schumann's Piano Quartet in E-Flat Major. The concert will be performed at 8 p.m. in the Geneva Room of the Warren Hunting Smith Library.
On Saturday, they will perform Joseph Haydn 3 String Trios , Op. 53; Dmitri Shostakovich Piano Quintet in G Minor, Op. 57; and Johannes Brahms Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34 at 8 p.m. in the Geneva Room of the Warren Hunting Smith Library.
The third concert in the series will be held on Sunday, June 17, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Canandaigua at 3 p.m. Sunday's program will include: Dmitri Shostakovich Piano Quintet in G Minor, Op. 57; Joseph Haydn 3 String Trios , Op. 53; and Johannes Brahms Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34.
Adult admission is $12 for Friday and Saturday’s concerts, and $20 on Sunday. Concerts are free for those 16 and under.
