Bob O'Connor, vice president of Institutional Advancement, recently announced that Kelly Young is assuming the management of the parent relations program as the director of Parent Relations and Stewardship.
"Kelly has strong experience in donor relations and stewardship, and her knowledge will help HWS families that have come to rely on the Parent Relations Office at the Colleges," O'Connor says.
Between 1985 and 1997, Young worked as a planned giving associate in Alumni House. After five years at Rochester Institute of Technology as a development associate at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, she returned to Hobart and William Smith in 2001 as director of donor relations where she has done a remarkable job throughout Campaign for the Colleges.
"If I were to use one word to describe Kelly, it would be compassionate. She is very good at what she does, and in this new role she will be a wonderful resource for HWS parents and families," says Rita Goldstein Ashton P'04, P'07.
Young's new responsibilities will include managing the monthly parents e-newsletter, acting as liaison to the Parents Executive Committee, and coordinating programmatic events for parents during Orientation, Homecoming and Family Weekend, and Commencement.
"I look forward to working with HWS families and meeting the needs of parents who have first-year students all the way through to those with graduating seniors," Young says. "I have a daughter in college and a son who is about to go, so I have a very good grasp on the things that parents need and want to know."
