Sankofa Hosts Soul Week

In celebration of Black History Month, Sankofa will host a variety of activities during Soul Week to educate, remember, and highlight black history and culture throughout the week of Feb. 21 - 25.

The first activity will be a Community Panel Discussion titled, "The Use of the N-Word" ("Don't Call Me Nigger"), which will include: Assistant Professor of History William Harris, Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric Neeta Bhasin, Assistant Professor of English Sarah Berry, and Assistant Professor of African Studies James McCorkle. The discussion will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at the Fisher Center.

On Wednesday, Feb. 23, a film called "Sankofa" will be shown at 7 p.m. in the Geneva Room, followed by a discussion with Associate Professor of African Studies Marilyn Jimenez. 

Soul Week will conclude on Thursday, Feb. 24 with an Open Mic Night held in collaboration with CAB at 7 p.m. in the Cafe.

All are welcome and encouraged to participate in the events.
