Running for Embrace It Africa

Along with the lessons learned through my formal education, I feel that I also graduated with an understanding of the importance of being an engaged citizen," says Hobart alumnus Dave Haughey '09.
As a Hobart student, Haughey majored in biochemistry while exploring a variety of other courses and taking the opportunity to study abroad in Ireland. Today, as a strong supporter of and fundraiser for Embrace It Africa, he is still branching out into new directions.
Embrace It Africa is an organization that helps fund the Bethlehem Parents School, a private school that takes in orphans from Bethlehem, Uganda, and the surrounding area. Embrace It Africa also gives out microloans (typically around $100 U.S.) to individuals in the community. The majority of the contributions to Embrace It Africa are made by individuals.
To do his part as an engaged citizen, Haughey will run in the Providence/Cox Sports Marathon in Providence, R.I. on May 2. If you are interested in learning more about Embrace It Africa or giving a donation, please visit the organization's Web site or Haughey's fundraising blog. If you have any further questions you can contact Dave Haughey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
