SportsNet New York (SNY) announced several changes to its on-air talent roster, including the addition of two Hobart alums as show hosts.
Chris Carlin '95 has joined SNY full-time, serving as its pre- and post-game host for Mets telecasts. He was most recently employed by sports radio WFAN, but worked part-time with SNY as co-host of programs, "Loud Mouths" and "Beer Money." Carlin will continue in his role with both shows. He is also the play-by-play voice for Rutgers football and men's basketball games and it is expected he will continue in that role as well.
While at Hobart, he was active with WEOS-FM, becoming the station's sports director and hosting a sports talk show. He earned a B.A. in English.
SNY announced Jonas Schwartz '97 as host of its weekday roundtable program "Daily News Live." Schwartz has made cameo appearances on SNY and was most recently at WNBC-TV, serving as sports anchor for "Weekend Today In New York" and host of "Press Box." He joined WNBC after leaving the sports anchor position for the Sinclair Broadcast Group's News Central.
Schwartz graduated with a B.A. in political science and was also sports director of WEOS-FM while at the Colleges. He worked as a play-by-play announcer for Hobart's football, soccer, basketball, hockey, and lacrosse teams. He also broadcast men's lacrosse games for the NCAA. He earned a graduate degree from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University.
SNY is a New York City-based regional sports cable network which airs statewide (nationally via satellite). Its primary programming is Mets and Big East Conference games, as well as supporting coverage of the Mets and the New York Jets.
