Reunion 2008: Don't Miss It!
Posted on Friday, May 30, 2008
Feeling nostalgic about your Hobart and William Smith days? Wish you could reconnect with your former classmates? Miss those sunny afternoons on Seneca Lake? Want to show your children the place where you spent some of your most memorable years?
If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, then don't miss Reunion 2008 next weekend, June 6-8.
The Colleges invite you to bring your families and participate in a plethora of activities, including:
• Excursions on Seneca Lake • Family Festival • A night of jazz and art • The Finger Lakes Wine Festival • A Parade • Mini College Classes • Overnights in the residence halls • William Smith High Tea • Fireworks • Quad Party 2008 with a live band • And much more!
"With all of the activities and events to participate in, Reunion is for everyone," say Reunion Coordinators Jared Weeden '91, director of Alumni Relations, and Kathy Regan '82, director of Alumnae Relations.
"I'm particularly excited about the William Smith High Tea," says Regan. "The event will most likely take place on the construction site of the new Centennial Center for Leadership."
Whether it's to see new buildings or old friends, Regan and Weeden encourage all alums to come back to campus and to bring their children. “Reunion provides excellent programs for kids, including sophisticated childcare and plenty of kid-friendly activities," says Weeden.
"Kids Camp and the Family Festival are just two venues offering children the opportunity to play sports with HWS athletes or partake in arts and crafts." "Reunion is also a great chance for alums to bring their high school-age children to campus," says Weeden. "They can see if Hobart and William Smith is what they're looking for in a school."
Regan and Weeden add that weather shouldn't be a worry. “On the occasions it has rained during Reunion, no one even noticed because they were having so much fun," says Regan.
"I also strongly encourage those celebrating a milestone Reunion to attend," Regan says. "At my 25th Reunion on campus, I danced with former classmates until 4 a.m. to our favorite songs from our college years and had a great time."
If there’s one reason to attend Reunion, Weeden says that it's because, “When alums come back, they always feel a renewed sense of pride in the Colleges...and always leave saying, ‘I’m so glad I came back.’”
