The Finger Lakes Institute's Store the Storm Rain Barrel Program is aimed at conserving water and decreasing stormwater flow and surface runoff erosion.
Each rain barrel costs $40 and includes a constructed white rain barrel (55 gallon). Each rain barrel is sold with installation and maintenance instructions and a Store the Storm identifying label. New owners will have the opportunity to participate in an ongoing rain barrel water quality monitoring study conducted by the FLI.
Pre-purchase is required. Received payment confirms reserved rain barrel. Check payment is due Aug. 19 to the Finger Lakes Institute. Pick up dates are Aug. 24 and 25 in Geneva, N.Y.
Information on how to purchase a rain barrel and open hours for pick up can be found at http://www.hws.edu/fli/projects_green.aspx.
