On Wednesday, October 10, there will be a Geoscience Seminar titled "The Once and Future Climate" at 5:30 p.m. in Gulick 100.
Professor Lee Kump of Penn State will speak on the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM),
a geologically brief interval of extremely warm climate about 55 million years ago. The PETM has mysterious causes and big consequences and some climate scientists suggest that it may be a good model for our future world.
Lee Kump is Professor of Geoscience at Penn State University. He studies environmental biogeochemistry and the evolution of the ocean-atmosphere system.
