Friday, October 12, is Coming Out Day, an annual celebration for the LGBTQ community.
Each year the arch in front of Scandling is decorated to either celebrate coming out, or to show support for those who have been through this difficult stage in their lives. Coming Out Day is for the LGBTQ community but also about supporters actually "coming out" as allies. Coming out as an ally in a public space lets LGBTQ identified people know that there are friends to turn to who will not discriminate against them based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
