In the months leading up to his senior year, Joshua Kirkman '14 was gaining invaluable experience in India where he worked as an advertising intern at 2adpro. Created by Todd Brownrout '84, 2adpro is a global creative and advertising company that provides high quality print and digital design, marketing communications and advertising production solutions.
At 2adpro, Kirkman shadowed the design and customer service departments, working to ensure that the communication between the teams ran smoothly. The departments manage a high-volume of work, with more than 2,000 job orders per week from companies all over the world, including Macy's and Century 21. Kirkman was on the team that worked for Macy's.
"I learned how to collaborate with people from all over the world," Kirkman says. "Since 2adpro is an international advertisement company, I was working with the people from New Zealand, the U.K., India, and Australia."
Kirkman's responsibilities consisted of making sure the e-mails sent from the client support team to the client were professional and coherent, running competitive analysis for the client websites, assisting with quality control operations and also conducting team building exercises geared toward improving overall performance.
Though his long-term plans are undecided, he says he enjoyed the opportunity to work in advertising. He credits the Colleges for helping connect him to the internship.
"HWS played an important role in helping me land this internship because of the resources and advice provided by The Salisbury Center for Career Services and Professional Development," Kirkman says. "I was also awarded a $500 grant from the Summer Internship Fund, which helped to pay for some of my living expenses."
At the Colleges, Kirkman is an international relations major with a minor in political science. He has been a member of the Hobart cross country team and played for the club hockey team.
