This weekend, Hobart and William Smith will host the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Sectional and the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship.
The No. 3 Herons will take on No. 15 ranked The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) on Cozzens Field at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23. in the sectional semifinal. The Herons finished the regular season with a 19-1-0 overall record, with TCNJ offering William Smith its only loss of the season. The other sectional semifinal between No. 9 Messiah and No. 7 Ithaca will be played at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The winners of Saturday's games will meet on Sunday on Cozzens Field at 1:30 p.m. for a spot in the semifinals to be held in San Antonio, Texas.
Hobart football, which finished its second consecutive undefeated season with a 9-0 record, will host Gallaudet University on Boswell Field on Saturday, Nov. 23 at noon. The Statesmen won their third consecutive Liberty League Championship this season, and an automatic bid into the 32-team field. Hobart is making its third consecutive and eighth overall NCAA playoff appearance. The Statesmen are 6-7 all-time in NCAA play, reaching the quarterfinal round for the first time in 2012.
Gaullaudet went 9-1 and won the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference's automatic bid. This will be the first match-up between the two schools. The winner of the Hobart-Gallaudet game will face the winner of the St. John Fisher at John Carroll game in the second round of NCAA tournament play at noon on Saturday Nov. 30.
