Following a strong performance at the Head of the Charles in Boston, the Hobart College rowing team collected its third Liberty League Boat of the Week award in as many chances.
On Sunday, the Statesmen varsity eight finished in the top 10 in the Charles' collegiate eights race for the eighth consecutive year. Hobart, which started ninth, had the fourth fastest split through the first time check and walked through McGill, which started seventh. The Statesmen posted a final time of 15:44.11, just 0.13 seconds behind sixth place Bucknell and only 1.85 seconds behind fifth place Wesleyan.
The varsity eight was powered down the 4,800-meter course by senior coxswain Jessica Dinan, sophomore stroke August Wherry, junior Robert McNamara, junior Nicholas Baca, sophomore Brett Lawhon, sophomore Julien Green, sophomore Patrick Ware, sophomore Davis Muller, and sophomore bow Dylan Brodie.
Hobart's varsity eight also earned Boat of the Week honors after winning the season-opening HWS Challenge on the Canal. The Statesmen second varsity eight secured the award after winning the Head of the Genesee. Ware is the only student-athlete to be in all three award-winning crews. Baca, Green, McNamara, Muller, and Wherry have been in two each.
Hobart will wrap up its fall season on Nov. 2, when the Statesmen compete in the Cornell Invitational in Ithaca, N.Y.
