I moved to Miami where I was South Florida Field Director for the National Jewish Democratic Council, directing 'get-out-the-vote' initiatives for the 2004 election. In the winter of 2005, I joined Peace Corps Uzbekistan where I served for five months before being evacuated back to the United States. In fall 2005, I left for Ukraine to continue my Peace Corps service.
My duties as William Smith Congress President were to accurately represent the students of William Smith College when addressing the administration in weekly meetings, or when issues came up. Hopefully I left a legacy to the future classes of William Smith that it is always important to take a stand, and more importantly, to act on it. Even if it doesn't quite work out the way you want, the adventure in attempting that change is well worth it.
William Smith College shaped my idea of leadership by giving me a solid foundation from which I am now able to expand upon. I was able to hold leadership positions in quite a diverse group of campus organizations and trying to balance all of that was a very educational experience.
I really came to appreciate the different traditions of William Smith and Hobart and am thankful that such traditions have been sustained.
