NEW ENGLAND REGION PROFILE
Adele Schlotzhauer '83
New England William Smith Regional Vice President
VP, Human Resources, Quantia
William Smith Congress
Major/Minor: Political Science/Sociology
Why did you choose Hobart and William Smith Colleges? I chose William Smith because of the beautiful campus, my overnight visit which was fun and educationally inspiring, and the opportunity for a focus on women.
How do you stay connected to the Colleges? I stay connected through volunteer work, the William Smith Alumnae Council and was a Trustee for four years. Through the Salisbury Center for Career Services and Professional Development, I spend a day with students working on interviewing, resumes, etc.
What makes the Colleges special? The unique curriculum, the President's accessibility and vision, a great alumni and alumnae network and loyalty.
Why do you give back to HWS? I have a wonderful career because HWS taught me to think broadly and critically, encouraged me to have a voice of confidence, and was layered with role models at every level of the campus.
What are your goals as a Regional Network volunteer? To make the New England Region more active in supporting Career Services, Admissions, Athletics, Development and fundraising so that the very best high school students compete for the chance to go to HWS.
What advice would you give to an incoming or current HWS student? Do it all. Never walk away from something that is difficult because you have a supportive set of faculty and administrators to guide you. Go to class! Cheer for the Statesmen and Herons! Look back with a fierce respect for the experience and show your corner of the world what it means to be an HWS alum.
