Why did you choose Hobart and William Smith Colleges?  It was a beautiful fall day when I took my tour and I fell instantly in love with the campus.  The old theater was also part of the decision process as I had done light and stage work all through high school and wanted to continue that as well.  The GenEd program at the time was fairly revolutionary, too and I recall being pretty excited about moving from class subjects to learning about an interdisciplinary way to view the world.

How do you stay connected to the Colleges?  I’ve been back but not enough.  I mainly follow publications and web and stay close to a few friends.  My 25th was a revelation in what I have been missing and it's a bit ironic given my career path that I hadn't thought about it before I returned to campus.

What makes the Colleges special? We have a great president who knows the higher education landscape and has put us on the right trajectory.  The size of the student body, the commitment of the faculty and the campus all contribute deeply to making HWS a special place.

Why do you give back to HWS? Because alumni support is critical to the ongoing success of the Colleges.  Also because my residential educational experience has had a fundamental impact upon my personal and professional experiences and enabled me to lead a happier and more fulfilling life.

What are your goals as a Regional Network volunteer? To better get to know the Colleges and to support the goals of the Colleges in any way I can.

What advice would you give to an incoming or current HWS student? You might wonder about what you will be doing after graduation. Whether you choose to go on to graduate, law or medical school or to begin one of likely several careers, use this time now at HWS to more deeply understand who you and to take risks. The Colleges will ensure you are prepared so this is your time to explore and to seek to better understand yourself and the world around you.
