How we used the Annual Fund last year
Everyone—students, faculty, staff, alums, parents and the community— benefits from annual giving. Annual Fund gifts meet a range of needs and touch every student. Last year, Annual Fund contributions totaled $3.1 million, with nearly 6,000 donors. Here’s how we used those contributions:
What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund is an essential element of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. A strong annual fund underwrites the Colleges’ distinctive liberal arts education; with every gift to The Annual Fund, you open worlds for every HWS student. In fact, no gifts to the Colleges have more immediate impact on today’s students than those made every year to the Annual Fund. To support the Annual Fund, please contact Josh Foladare at (315) 781-4068, e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Make an Online Gift Today.
Who supports the Annual Fund?
Every gift makes a tremendous difference to Hobart and William Smith. Alumni and alumnae participation helps create the participation rate that is used as a benchmark in the college rankings. The Colleges are especially proud of the support our parents and families make to The Parents Fund. Many Hobart and William Smith parents have made gifts for 10 years or more. Students also contribute a collective Senior Gift during their final year at the Colleges.
How can my gift have an impact?
Annual gifts support the Colleges’ budget where funds are needed most. You help students afford an HWS education. You encourage students to explore new intellectual realms, immerse themselves in different cultures and investigate scientific and technological frontiers. You support HWS professors, coaches and mentors as they inspire students to achieve more than they thought possible. To do this, you have the opportunity to designate your annual gifts in any of seven important areas:
- Colleges' Greatest Needs and Opportunities
- Scholarship Support
- Campus Heritage
- Student Life
- Faculty Resources
... every gift matters
- Gifts made by Reunion classes will count toward their cumulative class contributions.
Named giving societies give special recognition to donors:
- Purple and Green Society $250 to $499
- Pulteney Society $500 to $999
- Hill and Quad Society $1,000 to $1,999
- The Emerson Society
