Day 1:

  • Arrive at Heathrow Airport in the a.m.
  • Transport to hotel by coach
  • 1:00 p.m.  Lunch in Trafalgar Square at The Sherlock Holmes Pub
  • 2:30 p.m.  Walking tour of Theaterland
  • 3:30 p.m. Free time to explore the National Gallery or other sites
  • Dinner on your own
  • Evening free or back to hotel to rest

Day 2:

Saturday, June 14

  • 10:00 a.m. Visit to the Tate Modern
  • 12:00 p.m. Lunch at the Skylon Grill at the Southbank Centre
  • 2:30 p.m. Visit to the London Film Museum, the British Film Institute and other sites at the Southbank Centre
  • 5:00 p.m. Get a bite to eat on your own at Gabriel’s Wharf area or at one of the many restaurants/cafes near the Southbank Centre
  • 7:00 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. Play/Performance at the Royal National Theatre

The Globe Theatre, London

Day 3:

Sunday, June 15

  • 10:00 a.m. Tour of the BBC at Broadcasting House
  • 12:30 p.m. Introduction to Covent Garden and lunch on your own
  • 2:00 p.m. Meet in Covent Garden to take the Tube to the Victoria and Albert Museum to explore the Theatre and Performance Collections plus free time in the museum
  • 5:00 p.m. Group dinner at Café Rouge near St. Paul’s Cathedral
  • 7:30 p.m. Play at the Globe Theatre

Ealing Broadway

Day 4:

Monday, June 16

  • 9:30 a.m. meet to take the Tube to Ealing Studios
  • 11:00 a.m. Discussion with UEA Film Professor Keith Johnson at Ealing Studios
  • 1:15 p.m. Lunch at Carluccio’s in Ealing Broadway
  • Free time and dinner on your own
  • 6:00 p.m. Meet at Tottenham Court Road Tube station to walk to classroom in Bloomsbury for film lecture
  • 6:30 p.m. Film lecture by renowned English film critic Mark Kermode
  • Evening free

Tuesday, June 17

  • 8:20a.m. Taxis to coach station
  • 9:00 a.m. Take coach to Norwich (bring lunch to have on the coach)
  • 12:30 p.m. Arrive in Norwich and take taxis to hotel
  • 2:00 p.m. Blue Badge Tour of Norwich
  • 5:30 p.m. Dinner at the Belgian Monk
  • Approx 7:30 p.m. Theater performance or film

Day 6:

Wednesday, June 18

  • 9:30 a.m. Taxis to the University of East Anglia (UEA)
  • 10:00 a.m. Lecture and film screening at UEA
  • 1:00 p.m. Lunch at the Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts
  • 3:00 p.m. Gallery talk at the Sainsbury Centre
  • Taxis back to town
  • Dinner on your own
  • Approx 7:30 p.m. Theater performance or film

Punting in Cambridge

Day 7:

Thursday, June 19

  • 8:40 a.m. Walk to the train station
  • 9:00 a.m. Train to Cambridge
  • 10:15 a.m. Arrive in Cambridge
  • 10:30 a.m. Open-topped bus tour of Cambridge (board at the train station)
  • Free time to explore Cambridge – optional activities: punting on the Cam, Fitzwilliam Museum (free), film at an art house theater (the Picture Gallery), visiting the colleges, afternoon tea, etc.
  • 4:30 p.m. Take open-topped bus back to train station
  • 5:00 p.m. Train to Norwich
  • 6:40 p.m. Arrive in Norwich
  • Walk to the Adam and Eve Pub for dinner

Norwich Cathedral

Day 8:

Friday, June 20

  • 9:15 a.m. Taxis to UEA
  • 10:00 a.m. Lecture and film screening at UEA
  • Approx 12:30 p.m. Taxi back to town
  • Lunch on your own
  • 2:15 p.m. Tour of places where movies and TV shows have been filmed in Norwich: Norwich Cathedral, Norwich Guildhall, The Briton’s Arms, Marble hall, Elm Hill, etc.
  • 3:30 p.m. Walk to Norwich Castle
  • 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Visit to Norwich Castle
  • Back to hotel to get ready for dinner
  • 6:00 p.m. Meet at hotel to walk to dinner
  • 6:30 p.m. Farewell dinner at the Assembly House
  • Evening free

Day 9:

Saturday, June 21

  • 6:45 a.m. Taxis to coach station
  • 7:20 a.m. Coach to Heathrow Airport for flight home
  • 11:45 a.m. Arrive at Heathrow
  • 2:45 p.m. (or later) Flight departs
