We could write volumes about the dynamic community and unparalleled beauty of Hobart and William Smith, but a visit to our lakeside campus is truly the best way to know if HWS is a good fit for you.
We offer a variety of visit options for busy prospective students and families.
Preview HWS Visit (approximate time: 2 hours)
Recommended for high school juniors -- or seniors who haven't visited HWS. The Preview Visit takes approximately two hours and includes a presentation by a member of the Admissions staff and a student-guided campus tour.
Personal Interviews (approximate time: 45 minutes)
An opportunity for you to discuss your academic curiosity, your personal strengths and your goals for the future while learning more about the HWS experience. At the same time, we come to know more about who you are as a person from these conversations, and that’s important to us. Interviews are available on or off campus starting May 1 for high school juniors, and we stop offering interviews for seniors at the end of January.
Open Houses (typically held during the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.)
An event designed to give families a glimpse into HWS; presentations made by members of the faculty, staff and students.
Personalized Visits
Including Day and Overnight visit options, these visits are personalized to suit the prospective student’s interests. Offered from early September through late November and from early February through late April, Day Visits are available to high school seniors Monday through Friday, while overnights are offered Sunday through Thursday.
Visual Arts Tours (approximate time: 45 minutes)
Tours of the visual arts facilities (not seen on the full campus tour) are available upon request. The tours, which include architectural studies, studio art and photography studios, leave from the Admissions Center. Pre-registration is required.
