Join us for an Open House at HWS

Come to Hobart and William Smith Colleges this spring for one of seven open houses designed specifically for high school juniors and their families.

Morning: (Students and parents attend separate sessions)
High school juniors hear from Hobart and William Smith students about how HWS helped them discover a pathway to a major and future career, how they’ve created a vibrant social life on campus, and how they have extended their interests in the arts and athletics into their college experience.

• Parents and families meet with faculty and staff to learn more about academics, career services, athletics, residential life and financial aid opportunities.

Afternoon: Participate in a session led by experts that provides attendees with the tools and knowledge to successfully navigate the college search process.

The College Admissions Game – Peter Van Buskirk, veteran admissions dean and author, will lead an interactive presentation where students can learn what happens to their admissions application behind closed doors. Families will participate as a member of a mock admissions committee. (February 18 and March 9)

Affording Your Education – Director of Financial Aid, Beth Nepa will provide an insider’s perspective on affording a college education. This presentation will give tips on various ways to pay for higher education in a time when college tuition continues to rise above the rate of inflation. (March 27 and April 24)

Marketing Yourself in the College Admission Process – From the essay and personal statement, to the admissions interview, there are numerous ways students can standout to any admission committee. This presentation will include tips on finding a voice in the college essay, highlighting accomplishments in an application and promoting oneself in the interview. (April 3, 10, 17)
