REQUIREMENTS FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS

Hobart and William Smith seek students with a passion for learning. We will expect you to have chosen a rigorous high school curriculum while applying your talents to the betterment of your school and community.

Students applying for first year admission should present a secondary school program with a minimum of four academic subjects each year, including:

  • four years of English
  • three or more years of mathematics
  • three or more years of social science
  • three or more years of science
  • two or more years of a foreign language

  • CSS/Financial Aid Profile online registration begins

November 15

  • Early Decision I applications due

December 1

  • CSS/Financial Aid Profile for Early Decision I applicants due

December 15

  • Notification of admission decision mailed to Early Decision I applicants 

  • Notification of financial aid award mailed to Early Decision I admitted students

January 1

  • Early Decision I admitted students enrollment deadline
  • Early Decision II applications due. Students who have applied under the Regular Decision plan (and whose applications are complete) can change their application status to EDII until February 15.
  • CSS/Financial Aid Profile for Early Decision II applicants due
  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online filing begins
  • Applications due for Arts Scholars program

January 15

  • Applications due for Trustee and Blackwell Medical Scholars programs

February 1

  • Regular Decision applications due
  • Notification of admission decision mailed to Early Decision II applicants
  • Notification of financial aid award mailed to Early Decision II admitted students

February 15

  • Early Decision II admitted students enrollment deadline
  • Filing deadline for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
