Building a More Inclusive Campus Climate – Reaching Out and Looking In

This project was a fall semester collaborative study with AIDS Care Rochester and Hobart and William Smith Colleges in an effort towards building an LGBT-friendly campus. The primary focus of this research falls on the Colleges' admission policies as well as its web presentations as an LGBT-inclusive community. A series of challenges and needs were addressed through interviews with students, faculty, and administration. Consequently, a strategic plan is proposed to the Commission on Inclusive Excellence to improve the Colleges' practices.

Community Partner: Christina Miller, AIDS Care Rochester
Student Researcher: Jiangtao “Harry” Gu
Faculty Adviser: Dean Lisa Kaenzig and Prof. Alejandra Molina
