Student Projects

America Reads

Many of our English majors choose to enroll in an independent study course each semester, which requires them to actively engage in a research project.

Here's a recent sampling of some independent projects completed by English majors:

  • Alicia Gregory '09 "With: Elegies"
  • Galina Muckomolova '09 "Prayers to the God of Love Dogs"
  • Ben Ramsey '09 and Alex Kahn '09 "The Homoaffective Quest"
  • Emily Sheenan '09 "Copper Stars"
  • Andrew Wickenden '09 "American Friction"

Organizations

In an effort to increase literacy and bridge the poverty gap, First Book Geneva is an organization that fundraises and provides books to low-income youth in the Finger Lakes Region.

Our Campus Advisory Board has several tasks, which include fundraising, granting books to local organizations, and raising awareness about illiteracy issues in the community. Since its inception in 2005, First Book-Geneva has granted thousands of books to children in the Geneva area.
